Bhubaneswar: Ace Odisha sprinter Animesh Kujur played his part to perfection as the Indian team clinched gold in the Men’s 4x100m Relay event at the Taiwan Athletics Open championship.
The Indian quartet, which also featured Gurvinder Singh, Amlan Borgohain and Manikanta Hoblidar, clocked an impressive 38.75 seconds. It was the second-fastest timing recorded by an Indian 4×100 team.
The women’s relay team also struck gold on the opening day of the meet. Sudheeksha, Abhinaya Rajarajan, Sneha SS and Nithya Gandhe finished the fastest, stopping the clock at 44.07 seconds.
Indians had a lot more to cheer as they earned four more gold medals.
Pooja topped the Women’s 1500m in 4:11.65; Jyothi Yarraji won the Women’s 100m Hurdles in 12.99 seconds; Tejas Shirse claimed gold in Men’s 110m Hurdles (13.52s); Abdulla Aboobackar triumphed in Men’s Triple Jump with a best effort of 16.21 metres.
