Cuttack: A migrant worker from Bihar died after falling from the 6th floor of an under-construction building in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Sujoy Kumar.
According to sources, the incident took place during the ongoing construction work inside Shailabala Women’s College campus here. Sujoy slipped and fell down from the 6th floor of the building while tying rods. He was rushed to City Hospital in a critical condition but was declared dead on arrival.
Police have seized the body and sent it to SCB Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked concerns about inadequate safety measures at construction sites. Locals said that the accident could have been avoided if proper safety protocols had been followed, as work continued late into the evening.
