Senior IPS officer from Odisha and Director General (DG) of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Satya Narayan Pradhan along with commandants Anupam Srivastava and Pradeep Srivastava won Rs 25 lakh during the Karamveer special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 11 on Friday.
NDRF jawans cheered them from the audience gallery.
The amount was transferred to the account of Bharat Ke Veer, a fund-raising initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on behalf of members of the Indian paramilitary Forces.
The jawans revealed interesting stories about their different rescue missions when included the recent floods in the Assam, Bihar, Gujarat and Maharashtra. They were also involved in rescuing trapped passengers of the Kolhapur-bound Mahalaxmi Express in Thane district of Maharashtra last month.
While answering a question – ‘Olly’ was the official mascot of which sporting event – Pradhan told the show host, Amitabh Bachchan, that he was a native of Odisha.
The 1988-batch Jharkhand-cadre IPS officer belongs to Bhubaneswar.
He did his post-graduation in Political Science from Hyderabad University, and M.Phil in International Relations from JNU, New Delhi. He was awarded the prestigious Chevening Fellowship of the British Council under which he acquired the degree of LLM with distinction in International Human Rights law from University of Essex, UK.
He was awarded the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service in 2006 and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service 2012.
In 2008, he was given the Queen’s Award for Innovation in Policing by the Government of UK.
In recent years, he has been conferred with several awards for his numerous innovations in use of IT in policing.
