Bhubaneswar: Khurda district on Friday ( July 17) saw 150 more COVID-19 cases being detected in the last 24 hours. The district had reported 64 cases on Thursday and 60 of them were from Bhubaneswar. Of the 107 cases on Wednesday, 90 belonged to the city.
If these data are taken into consideration, Bhubaneswar can expect another record spike in COVID-19 cases on Friday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) tweets, COVID-19 cases in the Odisha capital have trebled in the last 15 days. On June 30, Bhubaneswar had 320 positive cases and by July 16, the number had grown to 919 with an addition of 599 more patients.

Staring July 1, Bhubaneswar has reported 12, 13, 24, 45, 19, 17, 29, 46, 32, 45, 38, 64, 14, 51, 90 and 60 COVID-19 cases till July 16.
To contain the continuing spike in cases, the Odisha government on Thursday announced 14-day complete lockdown in four districts, including Bhubaneswar, and Rourkela Municipal Corporation from Friday 9 pm.

Meanwhile, the BMC has declared two slum areas in Nayapalli and sealed Unit IV market following detection of several positive cases in these areas.
