Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs five lakh each for the next of kin of three workers killed in a bridge collapse mishap in Cuttack on Saturday.
The payment would be made from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, an official statement said.
The mishap, which took place during the construction of a bridge over the Kathajodi River near Khannagar, also left two other workers critically injured.
Expressing profound grief over the tragic incident, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the swift recovery of the injured.
The CM has given instruction for providing free medical treatment to the two injured workers, currently admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The Chief Minister has ordered a comprehensive investigation to uncover the cause of the accident and prevent future tragedies.
