Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the state-level children’s festival ‘Suravi 2025’ at the Capital High School ground in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

The three-day festival, organised by the School and Mass Education Department, aims at developing creativity, confidence, and leadership among schoolchildren from across Odisha.

Describing Suravi as a symbol of youthful imagination and learning, Majhi said the festival provides a platform for children to discover their potential and contribute to building the ‘Odisha of their dreams.’ The programme focuses on skill-based learning, innovation, and knowledge enhancement to prepare the young generation for the challenges of the future.

Officials said this time, Suravi festival is designed to ignite big dreams among small minds. Students are being trained in diverse areas, from creative writing and debating to science and space exploration.

The activities encourage children to think globally, act confidently, and learn leadership qualities. Some sessions simulate international forums like the United Nations, where students play the role of delegates to present their ideas on global issues. Others focus on sports and inspire participants to dream of representing India in the Olympics.

The festival also integrates modern education with cultural values. Through competitions in essay writing, debate, quiz, speech, and painting, the event aims to build expression and analytical skills among students while keeping them rooted in Odisha’s traditions. Training sessions on the preservation of culture and heritage have been included to instill respect for the state’s rich legacy.

Suravi 2025 has drawn participants from every district of the state. Over 2,400 students and more than 1,000 teachers and education department staff are taking part in the festival. Students from Classes IV to X are actively engaging in workshops that combine fun with learning.

The festival will continue till November 14, featuring multiple competitions and cultural performances every day. The concluding ceremony will honour the best performers and schools for their excellence in academics, arts, and co-curricular achievements.
