Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Interacts With People In Bhubaneswar, Assures Of Rapid Growth In 5 Years

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s newly elected chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said his government would ensure rapid development of the state in next five years.

Majhi interacted with the people for the first time after assuming power at the State Guest House where the chief minister’s office is operating temporarily. “The previous government failed to deliver as it was not connected to the people and their problems. But all the leaders of BJP, who have been elected in the election, have come grassroots level and understand the issues of the people. Hence they can solve the problems in a better way,” he said.

Stating that the people were fed up with non-performance of the BJD government, he said they brought BJP to power not only for a change but also faster development. “I know the people have very high expectation of the present government. I assure you of taking all possible steps to come up to your expectations,” he said.

He further said since there is a double-engine government, the state can make go on the path of rapid progress with assistance from the Centre. “We will ensure 50 years of growth in next five years. It will be possible with active participation of the people in the process of governance in the state,” he added.

Majhi also came down on BJD president and former chief minister Naveen Patnaik by stating that he was not accessible to the people and their issues. “I come from a very humble background. Unlike the last chief minister, I can connect with people and understand their issues,” he added.

“As an initiative in this regard, I will meet the people so that their issues can be resolved. I am receiving their valuable suggestions and the new government will work on those,” the chief minister said.
