Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday visited Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar and reviewed the preparations for the grand public event to be held to mark the completion of one year of the BJP government in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the mega event as the chief guest on Friday.
At Janata Maidan, the Chief Minister inspected the entire venue and directed officials to ensure that all arrangements are made without any flaw, especially those concerning the Prime Minister’s visit. He instructed that all necessary work must be completed by late evening.
Majhi underlined the need to ensure smooth logistics and asked officials to avoid any last-minute issues.
During the CM’s inspection, Works and Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, BJP Odisha President Manmohan Samal, BJP Odisha in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, and co-incharge Lata Usendi were present.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department Hemant Sharma briefed the Chief Minister about the detailed preparations made for the event. Director General of Police Y B Khurania was also present.
Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, Suresh Dev Datta Singh said elaborate security arrangements have been made in Bhubaneswar for the Prime Minister’s visit. As many as 133 platoons of police force have been deployed, along with over 500 officers. Nearly 20 senior officers, including Additional DCPs, DCPs, IGs, and Additional DGs, are overseeing the arrangements.
Central Armed Police Forces and other central agencies are also involved in ensuring foolproof security. Measures such as anti-sabotage checks, traffic management, crowd control, and anti-terror vigilance have been strengthened from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Janata Maidan, the police official said.
A traffic advisory has been issued for the PM’s roadshow, and a strict ban has been imposed on the use of drones in the area.
