Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Odisha in the second week of July, OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das informed on Thursday.
He further stated that he will be accompanied by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge for a public meeting in Bhubaneswar, where they will address party workers and supporters. The rally will focus on increasing violence against women, with Congress seeking to strengthen its position through widespread public engagement.
The detailed schedule of the visit will be shared soon, he added.
Since Das joined as the OPCC chief, Congress in the state has been striving to strengthen itself and is making efforts to position itself as the main Opposition. The attempt at a political revival saw the party stalling Assembly proceedings and aggressively taking to the streets over women safety in the past.
Political analysts, however, suggest that the party has to engage in careful political strategizing and dedicated effort, as it lacks organisational strength.
