Bhubaneswar: Amid reports of farmers facing shortage of nutrients, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a comprehensive review of the fertiliser supply status across the state on Thursday.

Maintaining that there is no shortage of fertilisers, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of timely and transparent distribution to farmers through PACS and LAMPCS.

It was found that for the ongoing Kharif season, the state requires 9,55,000 metric tonnes of fertilisers by September 30, and the Union government has already allocated this quantity. As of now, 11,66,733 metric tonnes are available in stock, out of which 9,85,967 metric tonnes have already been sold.

The CM directed all district collectors to closely monitor fertiliser distribution and ensure that any seized stock during inspections is sent to nearby PACS or LAMPCS for immediate allocation to farmers. He also warned of strict action against black marketing, hoarding, or counterfeit fertilisers.

Stressing the need for crop diversification and integrated farming systems, Majhi reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to empowering farmers through schemes like Samruddha Krushak Yojana and ensuring support in flood-affected areas.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo, Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Principal Secretary to CM Saswata Mishra, and Agriculture Secretary Arabinda Padhee.
