Odisha Elections 2024: V K Pandian Throws Political ‘Sanyas’ Challenge At BJP Leader
Bhubaneswar: As political parties traded charges during intense campaigning for the twin elections in Odisha, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader V K Pandian announced that he would quit politics if Naveen Patnaik fails to take oath as Chief Minister for 6th term on June 9 with three-fourth majority.
Addressing an election rally, Pandian lashed out at Bharaitiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for the saffron party’s claim about forming the next government in Odisha after the ensuing elections.
Throwing a challenge to the Union Minister, Pandian asserted that Naveen will be sworn in as Chief Minister for sixth time in a row with BJD’s three-fourth majority in the state Assembly. Naveen will be sworn in as CM on June 9 as per the schedule announced by the ruling party, he said.
The BJD leader further declared that he will take “sanyas” from “rajniti” (quit politics) if Naveen is unable to be sworn in as CM with 75% majority on June 9.
Asking the Union Minister to make similar announcement, Pandian said the senior BJP leader should also declare that he would take sanyas from politics if the saffron party fails to form government in Odisha after the coming polls.
As the Union Minister has been making tall claims about BJP coming to power in the state by defeating BJD in the ensuing polls, he should also declare that he would quit politics if his party fails to achieve this goal, said Pandian.
