Odisha Elections: Nominations Of 38 Candidates For 4 LS Seats Found Valid; Naveen To File Papers On April 30

Bhubaneswar: Nomination papers of 38 candidates were found valid while one was rejected during scrutiny for the elections to be held in 4 parliamentary constituencies- Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Berhampur and Koraput – on May 13, the office of Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha, informed on Sunday.

A total of 20 nominations were submitted for Kalahandi LS seat, 10 for Nabarangpur, 24 for Berhampur and 21 for Koraput. The rejected nomination was filed for Koraput LS seat.

Similarly, nominations of 256 candidates under 28 assembly seats were found to be valid while 10 – two each in Nabarangpur and Berhampur and one each in Junagarh, Nupada, Digapahandi, Chikiti, Korput and Pottangi – were rejected after completion of the scrutiny process on Saturday.

The candidates can withdraw nominations till April 29.

Meanwhile, nominations for round-2 elections on May 20 has also begun. Chief Minister and BJD president will be filing his papers for Hinjili assembly seat, from where he will be seeking re-elections for the sixth term, on April 30. The CM will file his nomination at the office of the sub-collector at Chhatrapur at 12.35 pm after offering prayers at Tara Tarini temple around 11.05 am. He will be accompanied by 5T chairman V K Pandian.
