Bhubaneswar: Stage is set for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mega roadshow slated to be held in Bhubaneswar on Friday evening to bolster BJP’s poll prospects in Odisha.
Soon after arriving in Bhubaneswar on a two-day Odisha visit, Modi will hold roadshow in the capital city from 8 pm and thereafter make a night halt at the Raj Bhavan.
This will be Modi’s second roadshow in the state in five years and 55 platoon force will be deployed for the event, which will start from BJP headquarters and end at Vani Vihar Square.
Traffic arrangements and diversions have been chalked out and the two-km stretch between Ram Mandir and Vani Vihar Square will remain under tight security cordon, according to Commissioner of Police Sanjeeb Panda
Around 55 platoons of police force, five DCP ranked officers, 10 additional DCPs, 27 ACPs, 41 inspectors and 180 sub-inspectors are being deployed for the PM’s roadshow to maintain law and order. Barricades have also been erected on both sides of the roads, he added.
Three teams of special tactical unit (STU) and police personnel in plainclothes will also be deployed during the event.
As vehicular movement on Janpath in the state capital will be restricted Modi’s roadshow, the Commissionerate Police has issued traffic guidelines. Movement of vehicles from Master Canteen towards Vani Vihar will be restricted from 2 pm onwards and from Vani Vihar to Master Canteen from 4 pm onwards till the end of the roadshow.
This apart, vehicles coming from lanes and bylanes on this stretch will not be allowed to take the Janpath.
PM Modi is visiting the state for the second time in less than a week and this is his second roadshow in 5 years.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, who is seeking re-election from the same constituency, has appealed people to join the roadshow in large numbers.
On Saturday, the PM will address three public rallies – first in Kandhamal at 9.30 am, second in Balangir at 11.30 am and third in Bargarh at 1 pm, BJP vice president Golak Mohapatra said.
