Odisha Govt Announces Relief Packages For Cyclone-Hit Families
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday announced relief packages for cyclone-affected people. The cyclone has claimed 43 lives and affected the lives of thousands of families.
The package announced by the Chief Minister are:
- All families covered under Food Security in worst-affected Puri and Khurda districts will be given 50kg of rice along with Rs 2,000 and polythene.In Cuttack, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts, Rs 500 plus additional one-month quota of rice will be provided.
- In all the affected districts one-month additional pension and house-building assistance as per relief code will be provided. They are Rs 95,100 for fully damaged structures, Rs 5,200 for partially damaged structures and Rs 3,200 for minor damages.
- Houses that are completely damaged will be reconstructed under housing schemes expeditiously.
- Loss of agriculture and horticultural crops and animal resources, fisheries will be assessed and compensated accordingly.
- Tree plantations will be taken up on a mission mode soon after relief and restoration work is over.The relief package will also be applicable to slum-dwellers who are in distress. It includes families living in various slums under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation who do not possess card under NFSA and SFSS.
