Odisha Govt Committed To Strengthen Power Infra, Says Naveen

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said the state government is committed to strengthen power infrastructure with high investment to ensure 24×7 supply.

Speaking at an orientation programme for new recruits of Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) through video-conferencing, the chief minister said electricity being the prime mover of economy, the government has been investing significantly in the power sector to enhance the generation capacity, strengthen the transmission and distribution infrastructure and provide electricity to all.

Stating that Odisha has emerged as a power surplus state from deficit situation, he said the government recently sanctioned Rs 1800 crore for construction of 99 substations of 33 KV capacity across the state.

On the role of new recruits, he said they will have a major contribution to the state’s economic growth by ensuring quality power supply to agriculture, industry and business sector. He advised them to follow the 5T principles of the government in their works.

Minister of Energy, Industry and MSME Dibya Sankar Mishra and chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra also addressed the OPTCL recruits. Principal secretary , Energy department Nikunja Bihari Dhal and Director (Operation) OPTCL were also present. Secretary to CM (5-T) VK Pandian moderated the programme.

As many as 60 management trainees and 175 junior technicians joined OPTCL on the day.
