Bhubaneswar: With over 96,000 seats falling vacant in Plus II streams after completion of the admission for 2018-19 academic session, the Odisha government has invited fresh applications from students.
According to a notification by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, the students can apply for online admission through the Common Application Form (CAF) by downloading the form from www.samsodisha.gov.in between August 23 and 29. After filling up the form, they can deposit it in any SAMS Resource Centre with the admission fee by 5 pm on August 30.
The merit list would be announced on September 3 and the selected candidates take admission between September 3 and 6.
Students, who have not applied for admission in the first and second phase and those who have taken admission but are willing to be transferred to their preferred colleges, can apply for admission.
As more than one lakh seats had fallen vacant after the first and second phase admission, the Directorate of Higher Education, in a notification on August 1, had asked the students to apply for spot admission. While the merit list for the spot admission was announced on August 10, the admission was held between August 11 and 14.
As per the latest data on the SAMS website, a total of 96,852 seats in the Plus II streams were vacant in government and non-government Plus II colleges after the spot admission in 2003.
Regular classes started on July 24.
