Bhubaneswar: The higher education department has selected as many as 106 proposals from young faculty members of different government colleges and universities to engage themselves in research after getting seed funding from the Odisha government.
Now, it’s the faculty members’ turn to present their research papers in favour of their ideas to the committee. The process will continue till March 24. Following scrutiny of the presentations of the research scholars, the committee will shortlist 40 faculty for Rs 5 lakh seed fund each, according to higher education minister Arun Kumar Sahoo.
Between December 2020 and January 2021, a total of 166 faculty members applied for seed funding this year, among whom 13 have been found ineligible.
Research papers of 153 faculty members were sent for external review. Only 106 research proposals were approved and selected for the interview process that began on Friday.
As per the state government’s policy guidelines of ‘Odisha University Research and Innovation Incentivisation Plan (OURIIP)’ framed in November 2018, faculty members will be given Rs 5 lakh each as seed funding for research work. Each year 40 faculty members are provided with such funding, the minister was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
