Odisha Govt Proposes Collaboration With Japan On Bio-Medicals

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government proposes collaboration with Japan in the field of bio-medicals for research and innovation.

During a visit to Kobe Bio-Medical Innovation Cluster, Japan, Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister of Science and Technology said the Japanese collaboration in the field will be of major importance for research and innovation, business exchange and human resources development.

He proposed to initiate joint collaboration between Kobe Bio-Medical Innovation Cluster, Japan and Government of Odisha through Ministry of External Affairs.

Stating that Consulate General Office in Osaka will facilitate the collaboration, Panda stressed on the collaboration to be taken up in reputed institutes such as Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) and ICMR-RMRC, Bhubaneswar.

Panda said that Science and Technology Department has signed an MoU with Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Centre (BKIC) to coordinate such innovation activities with organisations having national and international repute to take up more initiatives.

The Director, KBIC made a presentation before the delegates highlighting its major achievements in the field of retinal regenerative medicines and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease etc.

Panda was accompanied by Sujit Kumar, Member, Rajya Sabha; Debi Prasad Mishra, MLA and Puja Mishra, Joint Secretary, Science and Technology Department.
