Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said the state government would bring in a special Act for the Lingaraj Temple here in the line of the heritage corridor project of Jagannath temple in Puri.
Speaking to media persons after reviewing the developmental project being undertaken at the 11th-century shrine, the chief minister expressed his gratitude to people who have given their land for the project.
In his first public appearance after the opening of lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, Naveen said, “I would like to express my gratitude to all the people who contributed their land for the Lingaraj temple project. I am very pleased to see how the work is progressing here. Soon, there will be special act for Lingaraj Temple like we have for the Srimandir at Puri.” The beautification of Lingaraj temple will draw a lot of pilgrims and tourists, he added.
On the time frame of the Act, Bhubaneswar (Ekamra) MLA Ashok Panda said it will be a lengthy process as the legislative proposal has to pass through various stages before it becomes an Act.
