Odisha Govt To Deploy Superannuated Techers Of AFMS In MCHs

Bhubaneswar: In a major step towards improving medical education in the state, the Odisha government has decided to implement the scheme for redeployment of superannuated teachers of Armed Force Medical Service (AFMS).

Shalini Pandit, secretary, Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department, in a letter to the secretary, H&FW Ministry Rajesh Bhushan, stated the consent of the state government for acceptance of the Scheme for Redeployment of Superannuated Teachers of the AFMS (SRESTA) in medical college and hospitals (MCHs) in Odisha.

The scheme would be implemented in partnership with Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and NITI Ayog. Engagement of these experienced teachers is expected to add value to the excellence of medical education and health care services in Odisha.

The Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET)-Odisha has been declared as the nodal officer for implementation of the scheme, the letter said.

It may be pertinent to mention here that under this scheme, the retired medical teachers of the AFMS are registered in a national pool. The officers in this resource pool are known as SRESTA National Medical Faculty.
