Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will distribute mobile phones to all the Anganwadi workers for timely dissemination of information, Women and Child Development Minister Tukuni Sahu said on Sunday.
“The government has taken many steps regarding the development of women in Odisha. To strengthen the work style of the Anganwadi workers and to deliver government information timely, mobile phones will be given to them,” the minister said.
Sahu further informed that each Anganwadi centre will be provided with a weighing machine to check the weight of children.
The minister said this at a meeting of All Odisha Anganwadi Workers and Sahayikas’ Association in Ganjam district. Berhampur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu and MLA Bikram Panda were also present in the meeting held in Berhampur.
The Anganwadi workers discussed their problems with Sahu. They also demanded that their salary to be increased from Rs 7,500 to Rs 15,000.
