Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided not to retain local MLAs and other elected political leaders as presidents of the governing bodies of non-government and aided degree colleges.
Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahu announced this at a function organised by the Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangh here on Thursday.
The minister said the state government will appoint educationists as the presidents of the college governing bodies to oversee their day-to-day academic activities.
It was earlier alleged that local MLAs used to recommend transfers and postings of lecturers at their own will without considering their grievances.
