Bhubaneswar/Puri: The security of Sankaracharya of Puri Govardhan Peeth, Swami Nischalanananda Saraswati, is likely to be upgraded.
During a meeting on development and conservation of Puri Govardhan Peeth, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Friday emphasised on strengthening the security arrangements for the Puri Shankaracharya.
The CM also directed departments and officials to collaborate for the effective implementation of developmental projects at Govardhan Peeth. He encouraged the Peeth’s trust board to raise developmental concerns with the state government. He also instructed the Puri Collector to prepare a detailed project report for the Peeth’s peripheral development.
Additionally, Majhi directed the district administration to make ‘Mahodadhi Alati’ (evening prayer) on Puri beach more attractive for devotees and tourists. He added that all necessary actions for the development of Puri Govardhan Peeth would be undertaken with utmost priority.

Speaking to the media, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan also informed about the state government’s plan to restore 19 mutts demolished during the Srimandir Parikrama project. A land has already been identified for rebuilding all the mutts at a single location to facilitate easier access for devotees. “It is being freed of all encroachments. The matter has been reviewed twice in the presence of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration chief administrator, Puri Collector, and the Endowment Commissioner. Process in this regard will start soon,” he added.
