Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Tuesday signed a MoU with
Germany-based KFW Development Bank for urban infrastructure
development projects.
The MoU was signed in presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who
said, “Odisha Urban Infrastructure Development Fund has taken up
sustainable urban infrastructure projects having positive impact on
the environment with an investment of about Rs 2, 000 crore. KFW
Development Bank, Germany had provided 52.5 million Euro in the first
phase. Following its success, we have decided to implement second
phase projects availing 57 million Euro from KFW Development Bank.”
“The main areas of focus will be reclamation, rejuvenation and
restoration of water bodies in water-scarce urban areas, providing
energy efficient street lighting, municipal solid waste management,
development of modern wet market, abattoirs, etc. All these urban
infrastructure projects will enhance the livability standards of our
cities”, the CM said.
He urged upon the Urban Local Bodies to come forward to avail the
funding opportunities and implement these environmentally desirable
and people friendly projects to bring about the transformation of our
urban areas.
Among others Urban Development Minister Niranjan Pujari, Bhubaneswar
Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and
other senior government officials were present on the occasion.
