Odisha Inks MoUs Worth Rs 50,000 Cr At India Maritime Week 2025

Bhubaneswar: Making a strong pitch for blue economy ambitions at the India Maritime Week 2025, Odisha on Monday showcased its ambitious port-led development strategy and signed MoUs worth Rs 50,000 crore.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi led the state’s delegation, emphasizing Odisha’s commitment to building a globally competitive, sustainable maritime economy.

Majhi also interacted with industry leaders from the port and blue economy sectors, inviting them to explore investment opportunities and take the advantage of Odisha’s rapidly developing maritime and coastal ecosystem.

Speaking at the high-profile event, the Chief Minister highlighted Odisha’s strategic position as India’s emerging maritime hub on the eastern coast. He reaffirmed the state’s vision to build a modern, sustainable, and globally competitive maritime ecosystem, supported by policy stability, infrastructure development, and private sector participation.

On the occasion, the state government signed MoUs with several entities for some key projects worth over Rs 50,000 crore in the blue economy sector in Odisha, an official statement.

An MoU was inked between Commerce & Transport Department and Indian Ports Association for development of cruise terminal in Odisha with an investment of Rs 500 crore.

Similarly, an MoU was signed between Paradip Port Authority (PPA) and Odisha Maritime for development of an International Cruise Terminal at Puri with an investment of Rs 500 crore.

Similarly, an MoU was inked between Inland Waterways Authority of India, Paradip Port Authority, Odisha Maritime Board and Ministry of Coal for operationalisation of NW-5. Besides, an agreement was inked between Berhampur University and Indian Maritime University for scientific and educational cooperation.

Besides, agreements were signed with the IPRCL for a maritime museum and development of a four-lane road in Odisha. Similarly, a pact was inked with the IFFCO for cargo movement.

Another MoU between PPA, Odisha Maritime Board & Sagarmala Finance Corporation Ltd for development of an all-weather Satellite Major Port at Bahuda Muhana in Chikiti area of Ganjam district with an investment of Rs 21,500 crore.

Additionally, some proposals were received by the state during the mega event.
Reliance consumer Ltd plans to set up a manufacturing facility for biscuits, beverages, juice and confectionary at Ambhabil in Khurda district with an investment of Rs 938 crore. The proposed facility will have capacity to produce 14,000 TPA of biscuits, 18 million cases/annum beverages, 3.6 million cases/annum juice and 7,000 TPA confectionary.

Likewise, Jain metals The company has proposed to set up a 45,000 MT Titanium Metal and Titanium Dioxide plant in Ganjam with a total investment of Rs 2,100 crore.

With the support of dedicated workforce and proactive governance, Odisha is emerging as a model state for sustainable and integrated maritime development. “I warmly welcome all investors to explore the vast opportunities and invest in Odisha’s promising future,” CM Majhi said.
