Bhubaneswar: A college lecturer in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district was dismissed from service on September 6 for allegedly securing the job using a fake educational certificate.
The lecturer, identified as Santosh Satapathy, had been serving in the commerce department of Balikuda College since 2018.
According to sources, the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central Division, formed a fact-finding team to the probe a complaint lodged with the Higher Education department, alleging that Satapathy had produced a fake MCom certificate from a non-existent university in Sikkim at the time of his appointment.
The subsequent inquiry confirmed that the certificate was not genuine, following which, the district sub-collector terminated his services with immediate effect.
The dismissal order also directed for the recovery of salary from Satpathy.
