The tweet from Odisha police came against the backdrop of harassment related complaints emerging from places such as Dehradun, Jodhpur, Ambala, Panchkula, Delhi, and Patna among others.

Though the number of Kashmiris residing in Odisha remains unclear, there are handful of students from Jammu and Kashmir who are pursuing higher education in various institutes here.

“We have asked inspector-in-charge of police stations to take adequate security measures. The IICs under whose jurisdictions major educational institutions and private companies lie have been asked to coordinate with the organisations and varify security arrangements,” deputy commissioner of police Anup Sahoo was quoted by Times of India as saying.
