Puri: Odisha police have initiated an investigation into a hostile and offensive social media post about Lord Jagannath found on ‘X’, suspected to have originated from a Pakistani account.
The probe followed by a complaint from sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik against the alleged Pakistani user, Shahbaz Ashraf (@Shahbaz__56).
According to police, Sudarsan shared a video on May 9 on ‘Patitapanan Aarti’, a morning ritual at Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. The following day, Shahbaz responded with two disrespectful and provocative posts. Police deemed the posts inflammatory and hateful, with a senior officer emphasising the seriousness of the issue due to India-Pakistan tensions, the TOI reported.
Authorities have reached out to ‘X’ to verify the account’s origin and requested the removal of the offending posts.
