Bhawanipatna: In a major development, a school headmaster in Odisha’s Kalahandi district was transferred following complaints accusing him of sexually harassing and hurling casteist abuse at a woman staff member.
Sources said the the administrative action was taken against Shantanu Kumar Meher following an official inquiry into the allegation and a viral video. He was reportedly removed from the post of headmaster of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe School in Madanpur Rampur block of the district.
According to an order issued by the Collector’s office, Meher has been relieved of his duties as Headmaster with immediate effect following allegations of making obscene gestures towards a female employee. He has been directed to report immediately to the office of the District Welfare Officer (DWO), Kalahandi.
As per the order, Mukesh Naik, Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in Science at the same school, has been given additional charge as Headmaster until further orders.
The order was issued citing “administrative exigency” by the Office of the Collector & District Magistrate, Kalahandi.
This development comes after complaints were reportedly filed against the Headmaster regarding inappropriate behaviour towards a woman staff member.
