Odisha Sees Lowest 2nd Wave TPR Of 0.93%; COVID Infection Rate Among Kids Climbs To 16%

Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed a sharp fall in daily COVID caseload on Monday as 609 tested positive for the virus in the last 24 again 849 the previous day.

With these cases being detected from 64991 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) fell below 1 per cent and stood at 0.93 per cent, the lowest during the second wave. The state had seen a TPR of 1 per cent on August 29.

The infection rate among children and adolescents touched 16 per cent with 97 of the fresh cases in the age group of 0-18 years.

According to the I & PR department, 354 of the new infections are from quarantine and 255 local contacts. Khurda district reported the highest 209 fresh infections, followed by Cuttack (71) and Jajpur (36). Four districts – Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur- reported nil cases.
