Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has initiated steps for systematic implementation of ‘Tithi Bhojan’ programme in schools under PM Poshan scheme of the Centre.
Students of government and aided schools are proposed to be covered under the programme. The objective is to allow people from community to provide special food to children on occasions and festivals.
An important meeting will be held on July 28 to discuss the guidelines laid down for the scheme and work out modalities for implementation of the programme properly, official sources said on Saturday.
Director of Higher Secondary Education Raghuram Iyer, who is also the state nodal officer for PM Poshan, has written to all District Education Officers (DEO) in this regard.
“We have communicated to all DEOs that a meeting will be held on July 28 to discuss the guidelines laid down for Tithi Bhojan. The meeting will discuss the manner in which it will be implemented,” Iyer told media.
Under the programme, healthy and nutritious food will be provided by members of the civil society for school students, he said, adding that any local individual or organisation can provide food at least once in 100 days.
Food can be provided on special occasions or any commemorative day by the people.
It may be noted that the Centre has launched PM Poshan Scheme for schools to cover students of pre-primary classes.
