Bhubaneswar: Several students from Odisha who have been studying in Jammu and Kashmir have returned in view of heightened tension between India and Pakistan and a war-like situation in the region.
As per the state government’s instructions, the Commerce and Transport Department is making arrangements to assist Odisha students returning from Jammu and Kashmir.
In this sequence, four students were facilitated to reach their destinations after they reached Bhadrak Railway Station with the support of the government.
Similarly, three students were safely brought to Balasore with the support of the administration. The three students were studying in Central Sanskruti University in Jammu.
Another group of five students from reached Jajpur-Keonjhar Road railway station. Arrangements were made to send the students to their respective destinations.
As the tension escalated in Jammu and Kashmir, the students were shifted to New Delhi and they were then shifted to New Delhi with the help of the administration.
Notably, the state government had initiated the process to evacuate Odia students from Central Sanskrit University in Jammu due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The university has directed students to leave the campus after a Pakistani drone strike on Thursday night.
The government has tasked the Resident Commissioner in New Delhi and the Directorate of Odisha Parivaar with ensuring the safe return of all 114 Odia students. A dedicated team of four senior officials and 16 staff members has been formed to manage the evacuation.
All arrangements are in place to transport the students to Delhi and their return to the state. A 24-hour control room has been set up at the Odisha Resident Commission in New Delhi to assist them. Students and parents are encouraged to reach out to these control rooms for assistance.
