Bhubaneswar: The intensity of rain is likely to increase in Odisha from Wednesday with the cyclonic circulation over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Coastal Andhra Pradesh & South Odisha coast merging with cyclonic circulation over south Jharkhand & neighbourhood.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Keonjhar districts in the state on June 25-26.
On June 24, yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and heavy rain has been issued for one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Rayagada, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Gajapati districts. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Koraput, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh and Ganjam.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and heavy to very heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Keonjhar on May 25; and Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar on May 26.
On May 25, thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and heavy rain may also occur at one or two places in Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Dhenkanal. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely at one or two places in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati,
On May 26, thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and heavy rain may also occur at one or two places in Dhenkanal, Angul, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Deogarh. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
Heavy rain may continue at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Gajapati districts on May 27; and Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Koraput and Malkangiri on May 28.
There is no further warning thereafter, though light to moderate rain or thundershower may occur at a few places in the day during the subsequent days.
