Bhubaneswar: In a change of role, veteran tribal leader from Odisha and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram took up an acting assignment at the Luv Kush Ramlila organised at the Red Fort ground in Delhi.
The senior BJP leader played the role of Nishad Raj, a character from the Ramayana, during the performance staged on Wednesday.
The Minister appeared on stage in a role linked to one of the significant episodes pertaining to Lord Shri Ram’s exile. His part depicts the meeting between the two characters and Nishad Raj’s hospitality towards Lord Shri Ram.
“Last night, at the famous Lav Kush Ramlila stage in Lal Quila Maidan, Delhi, I had the good fortune not as a Union Minister, but of portraying the role of Lord Shri Ram’s supreme friend and the King of Shringverpur, Nishad Raj. Jai Shri Ram,” Oram said in a post on X.

Notably, Nishad Raj is associated with Lord Ram’s journey during his exile. In the Ramlila performance, Oram’s role involved welcoming Lord Ram on his arrival and seeing him off the following morning.
Regarding his role as Nishad Raj in the Luv Kush Ramlila, Oram said his role was to welcome Lord Shri Ram when he arrived during his exile and see him off the next morning. “It was a great experience to be part of this programme,” he said.
The event was held at Delhi’s Red Fort Maidan, where the Luv Kush Ramlila brings the epic to the stage through dramatic performances.
