Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested Additional Block Development Officer (ABDO) of Jajpur’s Dharmasala block, Asit Kumar Patra, for possession of huge assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The Vigilance said in a statement that Patra was arrested following detection of huge assets during simultaneous raids conducted at places linked to him on Thursday. He is being forwarded to court.
During the raids, Vigilance sleuths unearthed 3 multi-storey buildings, 1 flat in Cuttack, a shopping complex and 5 high-value plots. These apart, gold ornaments weighing around 700 gms, deposits over Rs 65 lakh and Rs 1.85 lakh in cash were seized.
Assets detected are as follows:
1. A four-storey building over 6000 sqft are at Chorda near Kanheipur, Jajpur Road.
2. One 2-BHK flat over 1000 sqft area on the 4th floor of Metro Avenue Apartment, Chauliaganj, Cuttack.
3. A newly-constructed double-storey building over 4000 sqft area at Jajpur Road.
4. A triple-storey building over 2000 sqft area at his native village Garadeswar near Sundarimuhan in Jajpur district.
5. One shopping complex, comprising 2 rooms, over 300 sqft area at Jajpur road.
6. 5 high-value plots – 4 plots in posh area of Jajpur Road and 1 in Danagadi town
7. Gold ornaments 700 gms.
8. Rs 1.85 lakh in cash
9. Bank deposits over Rs.65 lakh.
10. 2 two wheelers.
Measurement and valuation/assessment of the buildings/flat/ shopping complex/plots are being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing. A case has been registered against the accused officer and further investigation is in progress.
