Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Sarpanch of Ranimunda in Nuapada’s Khariar block, Tukaram Hial, and former Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) Bhismaraj Meher for embezzling Rs 14.24 lakh government funds.
Investigation following the allegation revealed that the duo had swindled Rs 14,24,722 allotted under 15th CFC and 6th SFC by not executing drinking pipe water supply and construction works during 2022-23 and 2023-24, an official release said.
“They are being forwarded to Special Vigilance Judge Court, Bhawanipatna, today,” it said.
A case under Sections 13(2)r/w13(1)of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and Sections 316(5)/6 of BNS has been registered against them and further investigation is underway, it added.
