Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended Rakesh Kumar Sahoo, Accountant & Data Entry Operator (ADEO) at Niladriprasad Gram Panchayat in Khurda district for allegedly taking Rs 6,000 bribe from a tribal beneficiary of a housing scheme.
A Vigilance statement said that Sahoo took Rs 6,000 from a tribal beneficiary of Antyodaya Gruha Yojana in lieu of release of the first instalment of Rs 40,000 in his favour towards construction of a house under the government housing scheme.
Sahoo threatened to withhold the release of the second instalment if the bribe amount was not paid. Left with no option, the complainant informed Vigilance authorities about the harassment.
Based on the complaint, a team of Vigilance nabbed Sahoo while taking Rs 6,000 from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the accused and seized.
Following the trap, searches are going on at two locations connected to Sahoo from DA angle. A case has been registered and investigation is in progress.
