Bhubaneswar/Bhadrak: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday recovered substantial immovable and movable assets during simultaneous house searches linked to Bijay Kumar Mohanty, a Junior Engineer (JE) at Command Area Development (CAD) Division in Bhadrak.
Acting on allegations that Mohanty possessed assets far beyond his known sources of income, Vigilance teams—led by four DSPs, four Inspectors, and supporting staff—carried out raids at four key locations with search warrants issued by the Special Vigilance Judge, Balasore.
According to the latest updates from the Vigilance Directorate, the following assets have been unearthed so far in the name of Mohanty and his family members:
>> One triple-storey building (approx. 3,500 sq ft) at Samaraipur, Bhadrak town.
>> One double-storey building (approx. 2,600 sq ft) at Narasingdiha, Basta, Balasore district.
>> Seven valuable plots – two in Bhadrak town, one on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, three on the periphery of Basta town (Baunsamukha, Baunsabani, and Machhada and one at Amarda in Rasgovindpur.
>> Cash amounting to Rs. 1,73,180.
>> Three two-wheelers.
>> Gold ornaments
Vigilance Technical Wing officials are currently measuring and assessing the valuation of the buildings and plots. Bank, postal deposits, and other financial investments are being verified.
The searches were carried out at the following locations:
>> Mohanty’s triple-storey residential building at Samaraipur in Bhadrak town.
>> His double-storey house in his native village of Narasingdiha, Basta, in Balasore district.
>> His office premises in Bhadrak.
>> A relative’s house at Malipada in Bhubaneswar.
This development comes as part of the Vigilance Department’s ongoing drive against corruption and disproportionate assets among government officials.
