Bhubaneswar: Renowned writer from Odisha Tarun Kanti Mishra will receive the Kendra Sahitya Akademi award for 2019. He will get the award for his book Bhaswati.
Mishra was born on August 3, 1950 in Keonjhar. He had joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1975. He retired from service as the Chief Secretary to the Odisha government.
Mishra is a recipient of DLitt from North Odisha University.
His first anthology of short stories was published in 1968. He has written more than 200 short stories.
He has also authored a novel against the backdrop of Dandakaranya, a vast territory inhabited by immigrants of erstwhile East Pakistan and a large tribal population.
Earlier, he had received Odisha Sahitya Akademi award, Sarala Award, and Katha Award among others.
