Berhampur: The Eco Tourist Spot near Ghodahada reservoir in Odisha’s Ganjam district opened to night stay of the tourists on Saturday.
District Forest Officer (DFO) of Berhampur Amlan Nayak welcomed the tourists with bouquets on the first day of opening of the night stay at the tourist spot.
Nayak said booking for stay in 4 suits in the tourist spot was started three days back and already 11 tourists have booked for night stay. Two women SHGs through Mission Shakti have been engaged to ensure services for comfortable stay of the tourists.
The tourist destination amid natural surrounding was inaugurated on August 27. It has registered around 8,000 footfalls so far, the DFO said.
The place has a watch tower, garden, children’s park, boating facility and catering services for the visitors. The visit of different species of birds to the reservoir during winter is major attraction of the spot. Besides, the reservoir is used as a crocodile conservation centre.
With the winter setting in, the Forest officer hoped that the number of eco-tourists to the spot would increase in the days to come.
