Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoo Swaps Tigers For Cinkaras From Rajasthan

Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan Zoological Park here has sent a four-year-old tiger, named Chinu, and three-year-old tigress Rani to Naharagarh Biological Park in Jaipur, Rajasthan, as part of an animal exchange programme.

Tiger Chinu was born on August 5, 2016 from tiger ‘Manish’ and tigress ‘Sneha’.

Tigress Rani was born on January 12, 2018 from tiger ‘Saif’ and tigress ‘Ankita’.

Besides, one Barha, 15 pairs of zebra, finch birds and seven pairs of Java sparrows were also sent to the Jaipur zoo on Wednesday. In total, the Nandankanan authorities have sent 47 inmates.

In exchange, the Nandankanan zoo will soon welcome eight animals, including two male Chinkaras, two panthers, two grey wolves, two Gharials from Naharagarh Biological Park.

Notably, Chinkaras will be new for the Odisha zoo.
