Odisha’s ‘Royal’ Mess Gets Murkier: Arkesh Singh Deo Responds To Wife Adrija’s Allegations

Bhubaneswar: Amid domestic violence, dowry torture allegations, Arkesh Narayan Singh Deo on Tuesday said that the case was filed by his wife Adrija Manjari Singh about six-eight months ago.

“I left the house after she filed a domestic violence case against me. Currently, her sister resides there and also her father visit her for 15 days every month. I visit the house to pick my stuff once a month,” he said.

Arkesh, son of BJD leader and former minister Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, further said that he had attempted to install CCTV camera at the house on the recommendation of police to ensure her safety and that of his. “She, however, would cut the wires and I have sent a video of the same to police,” he said.

He further alleged that Adrija’s father visited them about three days back and put forth a demand, which was difficult for them to fulfil. “I have repeatedly told him that the matter is sub-judice and let the court decide but they have been trying to put pressure on me,” he said.

Arkesh further alleged that his father-in-law has links with some land mafia of Saharanpur. “When I questioned him on why he was threatening me by sending 10 people to my house, he said he would come with 100 people if need be,” he said.

Earlier speaking to a local news channel, Adrija had said that her husband had sought divorce from me in August 2022 and she filed a complaint at Rajpur police station against her father-in-law Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, brother-in-law Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, mother-in-law Bijayalaxmi Devi, Meghna Rana and husband Arkesh on September 30, 2022. “They wanted me out of their house and stopped me from visiting Odisha. I was abused through their staff and my movement was monitored by guards with a camera pointing towards my room, invading my privacy,” she alleged.

She recently met Uttrakhand Director General of Police (DGP) when no action was taken on her complaint. The case has now been handed over to Dehradun Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). Local media in Dehradun reported that Adrija even claimed that her husband had once attempted to have her killed by a contract killer.

She has sought police protection citing threat to her life.

Adrija, who is the granddaughter of former Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh, is currently living in Uttarakhand with her family members. The duo had got married in a glittering ceremony in the winter of November 2017.
