New Delhi: China, known to be a Pakistan ally, has expressed concern over India’s Operation Sindoor, while Israel has backed New Delhi’s missile strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Describing India’s overnight action as ‘regrettable’, China urged both nations to avoid escalating tensions.
“We are concerned about the ongoing situation. India and Pakistan are and will always be each other’s neighbours. They are also China’s neighbours,” a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.
“China opposes all forms of terrorism. We urge both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation,” the spokesperson added.
Indian missiles struck nine sites, four in Pakistan and five in PoK, killing at least 80 terrorists. The military action was to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 innocent civilians were shot down in Baisaran valley.
Israel, on the other hand, has shown strong support to India following Operation Sindoor.
Reuven Azar, Ambassador of Israel to India, said New Delhi has reacted in self-defence and that the terrorists should not be spared for killing innocent civilians.
“Israel supports India’s right for self-defense. Terrorists should know there’s no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent. #OperationSindoor,” Reuven wrote on X.
India, meanwhile, has reached out to the US, Russia, the UK, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, briefing them about military strike on the nine terror targets in Pakistan and PoK.
