Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has reserved its order on a review petition filed by the candidates shortlisted by OPSC for the post of Assistant Section Officer (ASO).
As per the case, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) had conducted the written examination for 796 (265 women) ASO posts under the Odisha Secretariat Service on August 27, 2022 and announced its result on November 7, 2022. The OPSC shortlisted 1,104 candidates for the Group-B posts.
But several aspirants alleged irregularities in the selection process and staged a demonstration in front of the OPSC office in Cuttack. Some of them also filed petitions in the High Court in this regard.
Hearing their petitions, the High Court on May 19, 2023 scrapped the merit list of the OPSC and directed it to prepare a fresh merit list within two months.
Later, five candidates, who were shortlisted by the OPSC, filed a review petition in the High Court on the ground that they were not made party to the HC order.
The High Court heard their petitions on Thursday and reserved its order.
