Over Five Lakh Names Added To The Voter List In Odisha: CEO

Bhubaneswar: The final voter list announced by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Monday has over 5 lakh new voters as per the approval of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Briefing mediapersons here, CEO, Surendra Kumar said the number of voters as per the draft E-roll published on September 1, 2018, has gone up to 3,18,00,787 from 3,12,52,333, with the addition of 5,84,454 new voters.

Out of the total number of voters in the final voter list, 1,63,37,310 are male, 1,54,60,545 female and 2932 are transgenders.

Mentioned below are the other statistics highlighted by the CEO at the press meet.

1. Total forms received from people for the inclusion of their name in the voter list-23,76,595 of which 23,47,521 forms have been finalised.

2. Increase in the Elector to Population (EP) ratio by 1.51 per cent from 69.75 per cent to 71.26 per cent.

3. The gender ratio of the female voters against the male voters per 1000 has increased from 939 to 946.

4. The number of young electors (in the age group of 18-19) has increased from 1,33,896 to 5,45,401.

5. The EROs had identified 9,02,792 Demographically Similar Entries (DSEs) after analysis of ERONET database. Out of these, 2,97,323 electors were noticed as doubtful and matching cases while the rest were flagged as ‘Not DSE. With due procedure as prescribed by the ECI, 1,80,391 voters have been deleted (24,333 using DSE delete tab) and rest 1,56,058 using Form-7 as shifted and repeat voters.

6. The number of electors with photographs has increased from 97.79 per cent to 98.01 per cent and the number of EPIC (Elector’s Photo Identity Cards) holders have increased from 98.22 per cent to 98.38 per cent.

7. For the first time, 1,90,037 Persons with Disabilities (PwD) voters have been flagged in the electoral roll for whom special provisions are being made for accessible elections.

8. Total booths in Odisha before rationalisation was 35,896; it has increased to 37,606 after rationalisation.

The CEO requested the voters to verify their names in the list for voting in the upcoming elections.   They may do it online by visitingwww.ceoorissa.nic.in or www.nvsp.in  Besides, they may further verify it from the Voter Assistance Centres to be operationalized with effect from January 31 in the offices of DEO (District Education Officer), collectors, ERO and sub-collectors. The left-outs who qualify to be electors (18 years of age) as on January 1, 2019, may also apply in Form-5 in the continuous updating process through their Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Provisions are also being made to open Voter Assistance Centres in Tehsils and Blocks.
