Overnight Dharna: AAP To Move CBI Against Delhi’s Lt Governor

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is up in arms against Delhi Lt Governor (LG) VK Saxena.

The party’s MLAs and other leaders staged an overnight dharna (protest) inside the Delhi Assembly and near the Gandhi statue, demanding the resignation of Saxena.

An AAP delegation will also complain to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the LG.

All AAP MLAs sat under the Gandhi statue on Monday evening before going to the Assembly to spend the night. Several other party leaders slept on the floor around the statue, some of them under mosquito nets!

AAP has alleged the LG is involved in a corruption case, with MLA Durgesh Pathak accusing him of executing a ‘khadi scam’. The scam was orchestrated in 2016 and revolved around the BJP-led Central government’s demonetisation decision, AAP claimed.

Saxena was chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) at that time, and was named in a Rs 1,400-crore corruption case in the Delhi Assembly.

Delhi’s deputy CM Manish Sisodia last week asked Saxena to “behave like a Lieutenant Governor” after the LG’s office returned 45 files to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal pointing out breaches of norms.
