New Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday slammed trolls for targeting India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, the face of the government in its briefings on Operation Sindoor.
“Mr Vikram Misri is a decent and an Honest Hard working Diplomat working tirelessly for our Nation. Our Civil Servants work under the Executive this must be remembered & they shouldn’t be blamed for the decisions taken by The Executive /or any Political leadership running Watan E Aziz,” he posted on X.
Navdeep Suri, Ex-ambassador of India to UAE, Egypt and High Commissioner to Australia also wrote on X that it was absolutely disgusting to see the trolls target Foreign Secretary and his family. “He has been a picture of professionalism – calm, composed, measured and articulate. But that’s not enough for the bloodlust of a section of our society. Shameful!” he wrote.
Congress leader Salman Anees Soz had also come to the diplomat’s defence. “Vikram Misri, a Kashmiri, has done India proud. No amount of trolling can diminish his service to the country. If you can’t say thank you, learn to shut up,” he wrote on X.
Misri was subjected to a deluge of abuse on X soon after he announced that India and Pakistan had agreed to stop firing with effect from 5 pm on Saturday. Insults like “Traitor,” “Gaddar,” and “Deshdrohi” were hurled at the diplomat with a section of the social media even dragging his daughters into the controversy over their citizenship.
Some users, however, condemned the abuse, criticising the personal nature of the attacks.
