Paralympic Gold Medallist Pramod Bhagat Accorded Grand Welcome In Odisha’s Bargarh

Bargarh: Paralympics gold medal-winning shuttler Pramod Bhagat was accorded a grand welcome at his native Attabira in the district on Tuesday.

After arriving at Bargarh railway station, Pramod proceeded to his home at Attabira. After offering puja at Durga temple there, the ace para-badminton player was taken in a grand procession to Godbhaga where he attended a puja at Maa Samaleswai temple.

Pramod was felicitated by the local people and sports clubs at 50 different places during the 7-km procession. A festive atmosphere has gripped the area on the arrival of the son of the soil for winning gold medal at Tokyo Paralympics.

At a felicitation function in Bhubaneswar on Monday, KIIT or KISS Deemed to be University announced to name the Indoor Stadium at Campus 12, where he used to practise, as ‘Pramod Bhagat Indoor Stadium’.

Pramod, the reigning world champion, became India’s first-ever para-badminton gold medallist in the Paralympics when he defeated Great Britain’s Daniel Bathell 21-14, 21-17 in two straight in the Men’s Singles SL3 final in Tokyo on September 4.
