Pari Murder Case: Sufficient Evidence Against Accused, Says SIT Chief

Nayagarh: A day after the arrest of a youth in connection with the murder of a five-year-old girl at Jadupur village in Nayagarh district, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch on Monday said it has sufficient evidence against the accused.

The SIT chief, Arun Bothra, told the media the accused youth was interrogated for 10 days and he was arrested after obtaining sufficient evidence against him.

“The arrested youth is the prime accused. The investigation is underway to ascertain the complicity of others who had helped him in the crime. After taking up the investigation, the SIT came to know about the circumstances that led to the murder of the minor girl,” Bothra said.

He informed that the SIT will forward the accused to a court on Monday and seek his remand for further interrogation.

Since the skeletal remains of the minor girl were found near a pond, the SIT suspects that the assailants might have thrown the murder weapon into the water body. Therefore, the investigators have decided to flush out water from the pond to search for the weapon.
