Partial Curfew In Odisha To Check Corona Spread; Know What BMC Commissioner Said About Liquor Shops

Bhadrak/Bhubaneswar: Partial curfew from 7 pm to 7 am have been imposed in several districts and the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to prevent any explosion in corona cases during lockdown 3.0.

The Bhadrak administration has imposed the partial curfew order in the entire district from Tuesday till May 17. “The movement of individuals, all non-essential activities, shall remain strictly prohibited between 7 pm to 7 am throughout the district of Bhadrak both in rural as well as urban area. Anybody violating the aforesaid order shall be prosecuted under Section 188 of CrPC,” the notification issued by Bhadrak collector said.

All the llCs of Bhadrak district have been directed to promulgate and enforce the  order in their respective police station area, it added.

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Commissionerate Police had also issued fresh guidelines in which some rules were eased and some tightened further to check spread of coronavirus.

Informing about the new restrictions, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said movement of individuals for all non-essential activities will be strictly prohibited between 7 pm and 7 am in all areas. Only those persons having emergency work or are delivering essential service will be allowed, he said.

All retail shops, except chemists, have to down shutters after 6.30 pm.

“The decision on sale of liquor in Bhubaneswar will be taken by Excise department. We have
requested the Government to issue a separate notification in this regard,” he added.

The Cuttack Municipal Corporation has allowed licensed liquor shop, besides saloon and spa, to resume business in the city.
